Comparative Anaylsis

A comparative analysis evaluates two or more subjects side-by-side to uncover similarities, differences, and deeper insights that aren’t always visible when looking at them in isolation. In this assignment, you will apply this framework to explore how national context shapes the "coming-of-age" narrative in contemporary television by contrasting American hits, like Outer Banks and Never Have I Ever, with British counterparts, such as Derry Girls and Boarders. By looking beyond simple, surface-level plot points, your analysis should investigate how these shows illustrate the teenage experience through the lens of social identity (race, sex and gender, class, religion, etc). For example, what does it mean to be a person of color in both sets of programs? Or a young woman? Or working class? What is universal in both countries, and what is unique?

All shows can be found in the "US/UK TV Pack" located in the eReader. Compare and contrast all four shows.
